What is RSS? Why should you use RSS?
Hi everybody! In this post, I am going to talk about RSS
Feed. In fact, I haven’t heard about RSS before this course. So, I searched
what RSS is and I am here to tell you everything that I learned about it.

What is RSS?
According to Wikipedia, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a
type of web feed which allows users and applications to access updates to
online content in a standardized, computer-readable format. RSS presents a lot
of advantages to both subscribers and publishers. I recommend that you read
this post to learn about the advantages of RSS. It could help you understand
RSS better.
Which service am I using?
As I mentioned before, I haven’t heard about RSS. So, I
searched and found the list of the readers that I can use. I tried some of
them. Finally, I decided that Feedly was the easiest one to use.
Here, you can see the screenshot of my reader showing the
blogs that I follow:
Also, I used the service that is Blogger’s. On my blog, you
can see the list of the blogs that I follow. My blog list is added as a gadget
at the sidebar.
My favorite blog on this list
One of my favorite blogs on the list is Film English. The
blog belongs to Kieran Donaghy who is a freelance writer, international
conference speaker and trainer. This website has won a lot of awards including
a British Council ELTons Award for Innovation in Teacher Resources, the MEDEA
Award, and an English-Speaking Union Award.
It’s one of my favorite blogs because the posts are about ELT
lesson plans designed around a short film. On each post, you can see the aim of
the plan, language level, learner type, topic, activity, materials, etc.
It gives you the steps and also homework at the end. I think these plans are
very effective to facilitate learning, and they are suitable to use in ELT
lessons.
Here, you can see the general look of the plans:
Have you ever used RSS? Which service have you used?
I hope you like this post and learn about RSS.
Love, Rana.
